Spanish storage unit phrases
Ask about space, cost and access first
Start by saying what you need to store: un sofá (a sofa), varias cajas (several boxes) or una bicicleta (a bicycle). Ask to see the space before renting it. A size label alone does not tell you whether your belongings will fit.
Next, ask about the monthly price, a setup fee and the minimum rental period. ¿Puedo cancelar cuando quiera? asks whether you can cancel at any time; the answer still needs to explain any notice period or charge.
Finally, confirm when you can enter, whether you need a code and whether moving trolleys are available. Access hours may differ from staffed reception hours, so ask specifically about acceso.
Words that make the conversation clearer
Trastero means a room for storing household belongings and is common in Spain. Listing labels vary: a provider may say guardamuebles for furniture storage, or describe the space as espacio de almacenamiento. Use the provider’s wording and explain what you will store.
Alquilar means to rent; guardar means to keep or store something. Busco un trastero describes your search. ¿Puedo guardar una bicicleta aquí? asks whether that particular item is allowed.
Caben is plural in ¿Caben un sofá y varias cajas? because you are asking about several items. For one item, ask ¿Cabe este sofá? (Will this sofa fit?).
Seguro is insurance and factura is an invoice. ¿El seguro está incluido? asks about inclusion; ¿Qué cubre el seguro? asks about coverage. Neither question by itself establishes that every item or incident is covered.

Two short conversations at the storage facility
Customer: Busco un trastero pequeño. ¿Puedo ver el espacio antes de alquilarlo? Staff: Sí, le enseño uno. Customer: ¿Caben un sofá y varias cajas? Meaning: you explain your needs, request a viewing and check whether your belongings will fit.
Customer: ¿Cuál es el horario de acceso? Staff: Puede entrar todos los días de ocho a veinte. Customer: ¿Necesito un código para entrar? Meaning: you ask about access hours, then check how to enter. The example answer says every day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; it is not a promise about a real facility.
