How do you ask for directions in Spanish?
Use disculpe with a stranger, then ask ¿Dónde está…? for a known place or ¿Cómo llego a…? when you need the route itself.
Listen for the action first: siga, gire, cruce, tome or pase. Then catch the direction or landmark: todo recto, a la derecha, el semáforo or la esquina.
Commands vary with the person addressed. A stranger may answer with formal usted forms such as siga and gire; a friend may use sigue and gira. Both mean the same route action.
Four patterns that unlock most directions

FAQ
How do you ask for directions politely in Spanish?
Say Disculpe, ¿dónde está…? or Disculpe, ¿cómo llego a…? Use disculpe with a stranger and add por favor when it sounds natural.
How do you say left, right and straight in Spanish?
Left is izquierda, right is derecha and straight ahead is todo recto or derecho, depending on region and context.
What is the difference between siga and sigue?
Siga is the formal usted command; sigue is the informal tú command. A stranger often uses or hears the formal form.
How do I know where to turn?
Listen for en la esquina, en el semáforo, en la segunda calle or después de la plaza. These landmarks identify the turn.
Are there regional differences?
Yes. Doblar and girar can both mean turn, and cuadra is common in much of Latin America while calle or manzana may be preferred in other contexts.
