Spanish technology vocabulary
What technology words should a Spanish beginner learn first?
Start with the things you touch: la pantalla, el teclado, el cargador and la batería. Then add the actions that solve a real task: descargar, guardar, compartir and actualizar.
Spanish varies by region. Spain commonly uses el móvil, el ordenador and el ratón; much of Latin America uses el celular, la computadora and el mouse. All are understandable, so choose one regional set and recognise the other.
Many digital actions are ordinary verbs with a technical use. Subir is “to upload,” guardar is “to save,” and iniciar sesión is “to log in.”
Four patterns that make digital Spanish clearer
Keep the article with nouns: la pantalla, el archivo, la contraseña.
Use infinitives for buttons or instructions: descargar, guardar, compartir.
Use estar + state for problems: La batería está baja; La cuenta está bloqueada.
Learn complete interface phrases: iniciar sesión, cerrar sesión and hacer una copia de seguridad.
